We use a combination of many things: proper rest, exercise, both mental nad physical, and try to provide a proper diet. As far as diet is concerned, we have found that if there is not a lot of junk food in the house, our child will find and begin to crave healthier snacks like fruit, nuts, etc. We are also always battling to keep our child away from x-box and too much TV.

I know this sounds cliche, but finding time for exercise and rest. In the summers especially, I like getting them out to exercise gross motor muscles at the parks but then in the evening/afternoon, I let them "veg out" to a magazine, other reading material, puzzles, etc.. Sometimes I will play classical music and bring out crayons and let them be free. I try to give them a break from the stresses of redundant learning and keep it open-- it works for us
