My 21month toddler LOVES books. I ask him to name what he sees and/or ask him to look for various objects. Sometimes I ask him to look for a specific object i.e. the cow, other times I make him think about what object I want him to find first i.e. find the animal that says moo.

I was just reading up on the benefits of school yard "hand clapping games" Ms. mary mack, slide slide slippery slide, lemonade crunchy ice, etc... Turns out htese games are great for coordination, concentration, keeping up with rhythm, and teaches cooperation!! My nine year and I do them together so promotes bonding as well!!!

My 3year year old really got into "I Spy" and "Can you see what I see" books at this age and he still loves them. These books are for older children but the good thing is that you can "tweak" it-- Can you find the yellow duck, can you find 2 bears, etc. tailor it to "his level" and make it more challenging as he gets older-- "find 2 balls for sports" "find 2 things that swim" etc. These books are great investments
