Turn off the TV

bhealth_exercising_tvWe’ve all been there – sometimes it’s just easier to turn on the television and stare for a while.

Here’s the problem though: television allows your brain to go neutral, according to Dr. Amir Soas of Case Western Reserve University Medical School in Cleveland. Challenging the brain is crucial to building up more “cognitive reserve” that fights brain-damaging disease, according to Dr. David Bennett of Chicago's Rush University.7

So take the remote out of your kid’s hand and replace it with a book. Or challenge them to a game of ScrabbleTM or crossword puzzle. The more they think, the more they’ll learn.
