Although animals like elephants, dolphins and whales have larger brains than humans, our cerebrums separate us from the herd, so to speak.
Accounting for 85 percent of brain weight, the cerebrum is packed to capacity inside our skulls and envelops the rest of the brain, while the deep folds cleverly maximize the cortex area. We may not have the biggest brains; but thanks to the cerebrum, we have the most formidable ones.1
